Police spoke to a man filming the Trans Day of Resistance march in Newtown after some protesters objected to his presence and tried to stop him from filming. Police tried to move the man away to avoid a confrontational situation. It was not clear who he was.
Activist group ‘Pride in Protest’ called upon the trans community and allies to rally for Trans Day of Resistance. Protesters assembled at Pride Square (Newtown Hub) where speeches were held before a march along King Street to Victoria Park, Camperdown.
Protesters are demanding:
“- No Right To Discriminate: No exemptions for religious schools and workplaces!
- Cops Out of Pride: End the raids on migrant sex workers, end the anti-protest laws, stop Blak murders in custody!
- Gender Affirming Healthcare for All: No barriers for trans youth or adults!
- No Pride in Detention: End sexuality testing for queer refugees and asylum seekers!
- No Pride in Genocide, Sanction Israel: No pinkwashing the murder of Palestinians! Stop sending weapons to the IDF!”
