A single mum’s weekend getaway with her daughters has gone viral after turning into a hilarious yet empowering moment of family resilience. The clip, posted to Instagram by Kenzie Gardner (@kenziedgardner), has now reached 316,000 views.

In the video, Kenzie is seen building a fire at their Airbnb while her nine-year-old daughter, Quinn, records and reminds her of their strength as “independent women.” Quinn recalls a time her mum once phoned a man she was dating for advice on fire starters, before declaring that they don’t need a man’s help.

Meanwhile, four-year-old Piper laughs in the background, adding to the lighthearted atmosphere. Kenzie explained that her daughters have become fiercely protective of their household after witnessing her overcome trauma in the past year.

I am a single mom of 2 daughters. I have primary custody so it has just been the 3 of us since the divorce. My oldest, Quinn (9yr) is my biggest cheerleader when it comes to not needing a man. Her and her sister, Piper (4yr) are constantly reminding me that we don’t need a man in the house. In the video, we were at our family Airbnb in the Poconos for a weekend trip. Quinn asked if she could record me building the fire. While she was recording, she reminded me of the time I called a guy I was dating to ask a question about fire starters. Then she continues saying we don’t need a man’s help and we’ve done a lot of things on our own. Piper is laughing in the background. They’re both very independent and have seen me survive a lot of trauma over the last year so they’re both fiercely protective of our household and our peace.
