A heroic driver rescued a motorist who was stuck inside a sinking car that had crashed into a canal.

Jatupol Nonnok was travelling to work when he saw the teal hatchback half-submerged in the water on the roadside in Nakhon Pathom, Thailand.

This prompted the man to step out of his vehicle and rush to save the stranded female driver inside on the morning of November 20.

Dashcam footage shows Jatupol running toward the ditch and wading across to reach the vehicle's front door.

Meanwhile, passing motorists stopped and watched as the rescuer retrieved the woman. He managed to remove the driver from the vehicle through the window.

Two locals assisted in pulling Jatupol and the woman back up the bank.

Jatupol Nonnok said: 'The driver was in shock and couldn't open the door, so I helped pull her out through the window because water was already flooding inside. She was okay and was not injured from what happened.

'I also want to thank the men who helped pull me back up. After that, I continued my drive to work.'
