Storyline: Smart gadgets top shopping lists at world’s largest small commodities center [Voice_over] This Chinese toy might be coming to a store shelf near you: it’s a plushie equipped with a large language model and can, not just understand what you say, but infer your tone of voice, in a half dozen different languages. It’s the latest AI toy on offer in China’s Yiwu City, known as the world’s largest small commodities center. With its big eyes, fluffy coat, and interactive functions, the toy has been attracting a large number of overseas clients, some of whom just can’t put it down. [Sound_bite] Li Jun, business owner, Yiwu Global Digital Trade Center: "It supports quite a few languages, including Japanese, French, Korean, Spanish, Arabic, and English—these are the basics. A Spanish customer bought one initially just to play with, but a couple of days later he ordered three boxes." [Voice_over] Other interesting items small in size but big on tech at Yiwu include this ring that functions as a watch, and that collects and monitors health data in real time. According to statistics from China’s General Administration of Customs, in the first three quarters of the year, China exported over 7 billion U.S. dollars-worth of holiday supplies, dolls, and animal-shaped toys to more than 200 countries and regions worldwide.
