The latest report from the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) shows that the global meat price index fell in October after eight consecutive months of gains, but beef prices continued to edge higher, underlining persistent supply-side pressures.

The surge in global red meat prices in recent years has become one of the most important components of food inflation in many countries. Analysts point to supply constraints as the main driver of the rally.

In addition to weather shocks and feed costs, surging demand in major importers is reinforcing upward price pressures.

Experts say the future trajectory of red meat prices will be shaped by the pace of herd rebuilding, shifts in trade flows and evolving consumer preferences, including possible substitution toward cheaper proteins.
