China Airlines flight to Los Angeles delayed as engine ingests debris
A China Airlines flight to Los Angeles was delayed when its left engine ingested debris.
The aircraft was scheduled to depart from the Taoyuan International Airport in Taiwan at 4:55 pm on November 21 before authorities spotted foreign debris lodged in the left jet unit.
Footage shows the engine of the Airbus A350 spinning with a white object lodged in its intake.
The crew quickly shut down the power and suspended all departure procedures while staff assessed the situation with the engine-related issue.
After an inspection, the aircraft was cleared to depart, eventually leaving the airport around two hours later.
Officials have not confirmed the type or origin of the debris, but have launched an investigation to determine how it ended up in the engine.
