Drunk Russian tourist found with bleeding head wound on Pattaya nightlife strip
A drunk Russian tourist with a bleeding head wound was rescued on a nightlife strip in Pattaya, Thailand.
Aganak Alexsandrovich Kemchik-ool, 27, was intoxicated and injured as he staggered along the busy Walking Street area of the 'Sin City'.
Shocked passersby saw him wandering with blood pouring down his face before a Good Samaritan rushed to his aid and called rescuers in the early hours of Thursday.
Volunteers from the Sawang Boriboon Thammasathan Unit and Pattaya City Special Affairs officers arrived and administered first aid to the holidaymaker.
Footage shows officers trying to speak to the shirtless man with his chest covered in blood, but he was unable to communicate properly.
Bizarrely, he then flashed them his middle finger. The tourist has been taken to a hospital for treatment.
The motorcycle taxi rider who first found him said: 'I have no idea who attacked the man. I just saw him walking around on the side of the road.'
Police said they were reviewing CCTV footage from the area to identify the suspected attacker.
Tourists are regularly attacked or caught up in crime, leading Pattaya to be dubbed 'Sin City'.
Embarrassed officials in the central government have launched tourism initiatives to attract families and rebrand Pattaya as a safe destination.
Authorities have also introduced safety measures, such as improved lighting and CCTV.
Despite some success in cleaning up the town's image, alcohol and sex remain its biggest draws, often leading to a high rate of crime and accidents.
