Storyline: NEVs in spotlight at 2025 Guangzhou Auto Show [Stand_up] Olivia He, Reporter: "The annual Guangzhou Auto Show is where the industry’s future comes into focus—and this year, the buzz is all about electric and smart. Under the theme “New Tech, New Life,” Auto Guangzhou 2025 is spread across 220,000 square meters, featuring 1,085 vehicles. Of those, 93 are global debuts, and 629 are new-energy models. Put together, intelligent electrified vehicles make up nearly 60 percent of the display. This year, we're seeing Chinese automakers gain even more ground with highly competitive offerings. At the same time, joint venture brands are stepping up their game—tapping into local supply chains, accelerating innovation, and rolling out smarter electric vehicles tailored to Chinese consumers. As a result, this year's Guangzhou Auto Show has become a key platform for joint ventures to showcase their technical strength. Many have introduced new models packed with smart features and new energy tech, spanning sedans and SUVs, and covering segments from family use to off-roading. However, that doesn’t mean these brands have walked away from gasoline—instead, they’re also giving conventional cars smarter tech and more frequent updates to stay relevant. But what does the public think of all these changes? We hit the show floor to ask visitors what impressed them the most, and their answers were surprisingly consistent. Let's take a listen." [Sound_bite] Visitor: "Actually, I'm from Germany, so I want to see what's going on the Chinese market. I'm quite often in China and is so rapidly evolving. So it's super exciting to see all the new car brands coming up and new technologies. So actually you get a feeling of the market." [Sound_bite] Visitor: "So many new concepts. Really nice looking, especially Chinese made. So the Chinese car industry has tremendous progress in recent years. I've been out of China in college and actually I left China in the beginning of 2020. When I returned after four years, I didn't recognize it. So the all brand new cars, all new designs and it's really No.1 now in the world,I think." [Sound_bite] Visitor: "Some really good Chinese vehicles are being made, the quality is increasing, the price is great, so I think the Chinese vehicles are taken over."
