Drivers were surprised to see trucks transporting full houses along a road in New Zealand.

Footage shows a 14-wheeler hauling a bungalow as it moves past stopped motorists in Te Puke on November 25.

The tourists thought there was only one truck, but a second unit followed closely behind, prompting the woman to react in amazement.

A pickup can be seen travelling between the vehicles, appearing to guide the oversized loads.

Onlooker Jim said: 'On the way back to Christchurch, I saw an escort vehicle. The driver was holding a stop sign and told us that two trucks would soon be 'moving house.' I immediately understood what he meant and pulled over to wait.

'The first time I saw this in Te Puke, I was amazed, but I could not record it because I was driving. This time I finally had the chance, so I recorded it as a souvenir.'
