Vietnam: Chinese naval task group concludes visit to Vietnam, heads for Malaysia
Storyline: The 989 Task Group of the Chinese People's Liberation Army (PLA) Navy concluded a four-day visit to Vietnam and set sail for Malaysia from Cam Ranh Port on Tuesday. Staff from the Chinese Embassy and Consulates in Vietnam, representatives of local overseas Chinese, and representatives of Vietnamese naval officers and soldiers saw the Chinese ships and soldiers off at the pier. The task group arrived in Vietnam on Friday. The Chinese sailors visited the Vietnam People's Navy Region 4 Command and the Vietnam Naval Academy, where they held symposiums with their Vietnamese counterparts. The task group also held an open ship day, inviting local overseas Chinese and Vietnamese naval members on board the ships. On Sunday evening, the Chinese naval task group hosted a deck reception aboard the amphibious dock landing ship Changbaishan. The reception event included cultural interactive displays featuring Chinese traditions such as tea art, calligraphy and paper-cutting. This year marks the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and Vietnam. This visit to Vietnam holds positive implications for the continuation of traditional friendship between China and Vietnam and the deepening of practical cooperation between the two militaries.
