A furious wife allegedly shot her younger husband when he asked her to be in a 'David Haye-style' throuple with his mistress.

Sunan Chanthapak, 59, was said to have hidden in wait behind trees for her unfaithful husband, Sumeth Nakbut, 36, to return to his rented house in Nakhon Pathom, central Thailand.

When he pulled up on his motorbike, the jilted spouse allegedly stepped out of the undergrowth with a revolver before firing four shots into Sumeth's torso and thigh in cold rage.

Shocked residents said they were jolted by the volley, followed by Sumeth's agonised screams cutting through the normally quiet neighbourhood on Wednesday morning.

They called the police as Sunan fled the scene in a white Suzuki sedan.

Officers found Sumeth lying next to his motorcycle, clutching his side as bloodstains bloomed on his shirt. He was rushed to the Nakhon Chai Si Hospital for treatment.

Investigators reviewed CCTV footage in the area and tracked down Sunan to her friend's house in the Nakhon Chai Si District. She was arrested just hours later, and cops seized from her a .38 calibre Smith & Wesson revolver, her car, four .38 calibre cartridges, and one .38 calibre bullet.

Police Major General Phithak Upphong, commander of the Nakhon Pathom Provincial Police, said: 'During questioning, Ms Sunan confessed to shooting Mr Sumeth. She learned that he was having an affair and was trying to block contact with him. She went to him to talk to him but an argument broke out. In a fit of anger, she shot him with the gun.'

Sunan said she has been with Sumeth for six years, and had been taking care of him even after he was jailed for nine months over gun-related charges.

She told police: 'When he was behind bars, I always visited him. I brought him food and I took care of him without fail.

'After he was released from prison, we returned to our normal life. But later, I found out that he blocked me on Facebook and Line. I couldn't contact him at all because he wouldn't answer his phone. So I waited in ambush for him for three days trying to catch him.

'I wanted to ask him why he suddenly cut me off until I found out that he had been renting a room with his ex-wife. So I decided to drive there. I waited by the alley entrance and walked up to him to settle things between us.

'He asked me, 'Can we live like this, together as three people?'. He said he couldn't choose. He wanted both me and his ex-wife.'

The indecisive husband, allegedly, vowed to split his time between the two, allocating his Fridays and weekends for Sunan and the rest of the week for his ex-wife.

Sunan added: 'I couldn't accept it. How would that work? I was so angry that I shot him four times until even my chest hurt.'

Authorities said she faces charges of attempted murder, carrying a firearm in public without reasonable cause, and unreasonable discharge of a firearm in public.

Former British boxing champion David Haye made headlines last year when he allegedly appeared to be in a three-way relationship with his long-term girlfriend Sian Osborne and model Una Healy.

The trio fuelled public speculation when they were seen posing for photos together in Morocco.
