China: China's first humanoid robot 7S store opens in Wuhan, showcasing cutting-edge robotics
Storyline: China's first humanoid robot 7S store opens in Wuhan, showcasing cutting-edge robotics [Voice_over] A new humanoid robot store has officially opened in Wuhan in central China's Hubei Province with hundreds of robot enthusiasts attending the grand opening. Located in the city's East Lake High-tech Development Zone, which is known as China's "Optics Valley", the store showcases 17 different types of humanoid robots specializing in more than a dozen real-world applications like industrial manufacturing, tourism, and elderly care. The robots, which range in price from about 10,000 USD to upwards of 70,000, played drums, danced, kicked soccer balls and interacted with guests to demonstrate their unique capabilities. First-time shoppers and even students from tech schools were on hand to take in the displays. [Sound_bite] Store visitor: "I watched videos online and heard these robots could dance. I had never seen anything like this in person." [Sound_bite] Shao Wei, Vice dean, School of Information and Equipment Engineering, Hubei Urban Construction Vocational and Technological College: "We brought approximately 20 students from our school to observe the latest advancements in humanoid robotics. We're exploring potential industry-academia collaborations." [Voice_over] The center is known as a "7S store" modeled after shops in country's auto industry known as 4S stores with the four S's standing for Sales, Service, Spare parts and Surveys, or customer feedback. As a 7S store, the robot shop adds three Ss including, Solutions, Shows which describes immersive scenarios, and School, representing the center's training programs.
