A dramatic video has emerged of a car falling into a reservoir after the driver failed to put the car in reverse.

The footage, shot on Saturday in Pingxiang, Jiangxi Province, China, shows the car driving straight into the reservoir instead of reversing.

Local residents can be seen running to the scene with buoys to help the four passengers.

According to reports, the family was rescued.

Four passengers were rescued after a car hurtled into a reservoir in the city of Pingxiang in east China's Jiangxi Province on July 30. The driver, a mother who had just been swimming with her son and two daughters, failed to put the car into reverse gear and drove straight into the reservoir. Fortunately, several local residents jumped into the water immediately, rescuing all four passengers.
