Bakersfield, United States - November 27, 2025 11/26/2025 09:00 pm GMT-0800 BAKERSFIELD, Calif. – A woman is dead and a man is in custody after a shooting in Northwest Bakersfield late Wednesday night, according to the Bakersfield Police Department. The shooting was reported just before 9:30 p.m. at a home in the 6200 block of Tallulah Falls Court. Police responded and located a woman dead from apparent gunshot wounds, according to BPD. Neighbors in the area say the victim is believed to be the suspect's wife. Home security footage shows the suspect fleeing the shooting scene in a white pickup truck, while someone cries on the floor in distress. The suspect eventually crashed into another vehicle at the intersection of Calloway Drive and Hageman Road, according to BPD. He fled on foot after the crash but was apprehended by officers who had surrounded the area. Neighbors reported hearing a domestic situation between the couple moments before the gunfire. At the time of the incident, two of their children were reportedly present and ran to a nearby neighbor’s house for safety. Manuel Robles, 37, of Bakersfield, was arrested on suspicion of murder. Court records indicate he is also facing charges of willful cruelty to a child and inflicting corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant. Additional home security video obtained by KNN shows an altercation at the home days before the deadly shooting. Neighbors say the man became enraged during an argument with his alleged wife, ultimately smashing the window of a Corvette parked in the driveway. Video captures the sound of the Corvette’s window being smashed. The identity of the victim will later be released by the Kern County Coroner’s Office.
