The New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor, a key logistics network linking China's western regions to global markets, has transported over 5 million twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs) of cargo as of Saturday since its launch in April 2017, China Railway Nanning Group said on Sunday. The corridor has handled 1.308 million TEUs so far this year, up 55.3 percent from a year earlier. Of this total, 657,000 TEUs moved inland from ports, up 58.9 percent, while 651,000 TEUs were shipped from inland to ports, up 51.7 percent, achieving a roughly balanced two-way flow. "This year has seen six new records made in daily loading and unloading operations, with the highest figure reaching 1,405 rail cars. Imports such as pulp, spodumene and rubber from Thailand, Mozambique and Indonesia have risen sharply, while the exports of electricity generator sets from Chongqing Municipality and those of auto parts from Guangxi have also seen significant growth," said Zhao Jian, deputy head of the Qinzhou Port East Station under Guangxi Coastal Railway Co., Ltd., part of China Railway Nanning Group. The corridor now operates 26 routes across various railway bureaus nationwide, connecting southwestern cities including Chengdu, Chongqing and Guiyang with Beibu Gulf ports including Fangcheng and Qinzhou. It also allows seamless links with China-Europe freight trains, boosting international trade connectivity. SHOTLIST: Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, south China - Recent 1.
