Kind hiker piggybacks pensioner struggling with mountain trek
This is the heartwarming moment a kind hiker piggybacked a pensioner who was struggling with a mountain trek.
Footage captured by Clark Jay Dela Cruz shows the elderly man wearing a green jacket hopping at the back of one of the tour guides as they descend at Mount Apo in Kapatagan, Davao del Sur.
The mountain leader can be seen carefully stepping onto the muddy track while his colleagues assist to prevent them from slipping along the Sta Cruz Trail on November 23.
One of the mountaineers in a blue jacket can be seen helping the kindhearted man by taking a turn to carry the visibly sick elderly hiker.
Clark said: 'The temperature and oxygen level were too low, and sulphur was burning where we were in the mountain, causing our elderly friend to get sick.
'He decided not to proceed with the hike, so our guide left him at the campsite. From there, we noticed that he was vomiting, and he could not breathe properly. The next day, we headed out from the mountai,n and the men decided to carry him until we reached the bottom.'
