Cyclist crashes as he races along downhill track in 100km ride
This is the shocking moment a cyclist crashed as he raced along a downhill track during a 100km ride.
Jon Fabro was cycling across a pavement during his solo ride around seven hills when he tumbled midway in Tarlac, the Philippines.
Footage shows Jon pedalling at speed on his final descent when he lost control after attempting to dodge a branch on November 2.
He can be seen rolling and crashing onto the overgrown ground.
Jon sustained a clavicle fracture, multiple brain injuries, and temporary facial paralysis, requiring him to have surgery.
He recalled lying still for at least two hours alone before a group of bikers training nearby helped him and called an ambulance.
He said: 'I had been cycling for under 60 days and attempted my 1st 'Century Ride' or 100km ride.
'In this trip, I did it solo, as most of my rides. The route that I chose was quite difficult for my skill and fitness level since the area had around seven major hills.
'I did not see that there was a huge tree branch on the ground as it was camouflaged by shadows and the colour was the same as the path.'
