4 PROTESTERS GATHERING IN STREET (TWO SHOTS) LYON, FRANCE - DEC. 02, 2025: Trade unions held a demonstration in Lyon on Tuesday, Dec. 2, as part of nationwide protests against the French government’s proposed 2026 budget plan.
The rally, led by members of various multi-sector unions, General Confederation of Labour (CGT), United Trade-Union Federation (FSU) and Solidaires, criticized the draft budget, which they denounce as “socially unjust.”
The unions warned that the proposed measures could threaten public-sector employment and further strain already pressured public services.
Union representatives said the demonstrations would continue in the coming days to increase pressure on the government to revise the budget proposal.
Disruptions are expected in public transport, schools, hospitals and local administrations across the country during the nationwide strike.
