This is the amusing moment a dog waited for its owner to return home with shopping, then stole a snack and hid under his bed.

Marites Pena had just come back from grocery shopping when her pet Shih Tzu, Jiro, snuck a wafer in Laguna, the Philippines.

Footage shows food items on the ground while family members stack them in the pantry on November 26.

Marites noticed that the five-year-old pooch was nowhere to be seen, prompting her to look around - only to find it in his bed, carrying a blue packet of the sweet, crispy treat.

Jiro can be seen lying on the cushion while Marites tries to take the chocolate-flavoured snack.

Marites said: 'Every time I go for a grocery shop, Jiro welcomes me home and waits for us to open all the boxes. He would then wander around the food and when we don't see him, he will then grab anything he likes.

'There were times that he would take the whole pack of biscuits and would hide it in his bed.'
