Lebanon: Youth Crowd Erupts In Anticipation Ahead Of Pope Leo XIV Arrival
Bkerki, Lebanon - December 01, 2025 A video filmed by X user Elise Ann Allen, a senior Vatican correspondent for Crux, captures a massive crowd of young people awaiting the arrival of Pope Leo XIV for his youth meeting on December 1, 2025. The footage opens with a wide-angle handheld shot along a broad, dimly lit outdoor pathway under a deep indigo sky. Ornate white stone buildings line the scene, including a towering Maronite church facade on the left, its dome and arches glowing with warm spotlights and strings of white lights draped overhead. At the far end, a brightly illuminated stage dominates the view, with LED panels glowing in orange, red, yellow, and blue, forming abstract patterns and text. Hanging banners flutter gently while sweeping spotlights cast long shadows across the gathering. Hundreds of young people, mostly teenagers and those in their 20s, fill both sides of the barricaded walkway. Dressed in coats, hoodies, and scarves, they wave Vatican flags, lift handmade signs reading “Welcome Pope Leo” in Arabic and English, and hold up phones for selfies and recordings. Excited cheers, clasped hands, and bursts of jumping movement show their anticipation. Security personnel in black suits and earpieces patrol the barriers, while a few suited clergy mingle within the crowd. As the camera pans forward, faint murmurs and whoops rise in the background audio. Distant cheers swell off-screen, signaling the Pope’s imminent entrance and heightening the electric atmosphere. The original X post reads: “Young people await the arrival of Pope Leo for his meeting with youth in Lebanon Pontifex.”
