Drunk German tourist arrested over fracas outside bar in Thailand
A drunk German tourist was arrested over a drunken rampage outside bars in Bangkok.
The holidaymaker was downing drinks before reportedly starting fights with locals in the Royal City Avenue clubbing area of the city.
Footage shows him cursing at shocked revellers while blocking a black sedan in the early hours of November 13.
He allegedly struck the car window, then swaggered toward an onlooker to slap him.
Concerned taxi drivers swarmed around the heavily built holidaymaker, knocking him to the pavement and injuring his head.
Police later arrived to arrest him.
Speaking in German, he screamed at officers: 'Son of a b**** you're f****' as they cuffed his hands behind his back.
The man was screaming furiously when he was hauled onto the police truck.
Toffy, a cabbie who witnessed the fight, said: 'The incident happened on November 13 at 2:55 am. The foreigner, drunk from a pub, started picking fights with Thai people.
'He fell off the sidewalk and hit his head, then began acting aggressively toward passersby, kicking locals' vehicles and punching a bystander who tried to intervene.
‘After that, the events continued as seen in the video. He was a very large man, and even the police couldn't control him.
'Thailand is indeed a free country, but you must respect the law and the people here. People are kind, but that doesn't mean every situation will be tolerated.'
A restaurant employee claimed the German man had been provoked by a Thai customer before he went on a rampage.
The worker said: ‘That day it was raining heavily. The foreigner walked out of a pub, and one of the staff tried to offer him an umbrella for tips.
‘He refused, so a Thai person tossed an umbrella at his head, causing a minor injury. The foreigner, who was already drunk, became angry.
‘He tried to grab the umbrella back but missed, and then he went berserk, smashing other people's vehicles and kicking and hitting locals.'
Royal City Avenue is one of Bangkok's biggest nightlife districts with clubs, bars and live-music venues. But it is mainly popular among locals and Far Eastern visitors.
