This is the dramatic moment two firemen rescued a drowning calf swept away by a flood in the Philippines.

Footage captured by Princess Ganab shows the officials aboard a rescue boat approaching the hapless water buffalo struggling to keep its head above the murky water in Luna, Apayao.

The men can be seen pulling the rope attached to the bovine to retrieve it to safety on November 27.

The Bureau of Fire Protection – Luna Fire Station and the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) assisted farmers in rescuing the livestock stranded in the raging water.

Typhoon Koto formed near the southern Philippines on November 23, locally named Verbena. The storm made seven landfalls across the country before moving into the South China Sea on a track toward Vietnam.

The storm, together with the shear line, brought heavy rain that caused floods and landslides, leaving one dead. Its effects worsened the damage already left by recent Typhoon Kalmaegi and Fung-wong.
