An office worker helped a trapped stray cat climb down he heard crying from the ceiling.

Nicholai Silva said he and his colleagues heard persistent meowing before discovering the moggy poking its head through an air vent opening in Manila, Philippines.

Footage shows the cat crying while looking down from one of the missing ceiling panels.

Nicholai tried calling to the feline, but it appeared wary of people and refused to climb down.

He said he made several attempts to gain the cat's trust before finally coaxing it into the garden outside, where he fed it some noodles.

He said: 'It was a normal day at work when we began hearing meows in the ceiling. My officemates were getting curious where the noise came from, then they began seeing the cat appear every now and then through a vent, but it would just stay there all day.

'They got janitors and other staff to try to grab it but it would always run away. I then began to step in since I have my own cat at home and I know how to handle cats.

'I called him down for a hug, after only ten minutes of earning his trust, he finally jumped down and ran into my arms for hugs. I brought him out and asked my colleague for any spare food, to which they gave me the only food left. We became bestfriends instantly.'
