Footage shows residents making their way along an inundated road in Aceh province on November 27.

Local media reported that parts of Aceh were flooded as monsoon rains battered the island of Sumatra.

Severe weather has lashed North Sumatra since November 24, triggering widespread flooding and landslides across the region.

Authorities said the death toll has risen to 708, with a further 504 people reported missing.
