Dog lovers take their pooches to cinema to new Disney animation Zootopia 2
Dog lovers took their pooches to a cinema to watch the new Disney animation, Zootopia 2.
The Longhua Perfect World Cinema invited animal lovers to bring their pets for the dog-friendly film screening in Shanghai, China on November 30.
Footage shows fur-parents swaying their flashlit phones as they jammed to the song played in the theatre, along with their well-behaved canines next to them.
Other pet dogs can be seen donning bow ties and tiny hats, sitting on their owners' laps.
Local media reported that the cinema staff even assisted the audience to arrange the seating to prevent dogfights mid-watch.
The cinema management said they had prepared diapers, wipes, and cleaning pads for each seat for a convenient watch, and dog owners were required to clean up after the movie.
Other cinemas joined the trend, offering a pet companion screening event nationwide.
The CGV Cinema in Nanjing also launched a screening of the same movie, with other cinemas offering same-breed screenings, gathering 100 Samoyeds and their owners, filling an entire theatre.
Zootopia is the first and eponymous animated film in the Disney franchise, produced by Walt Disney Animation Studios and directed by Byron Howard and Rich Moore in 2016.
The story follows a rabbit police officer, Judy Hopps, and a fox con artist, Nick Wilde, as they work together to uncover a conspiracy in a city inhabited by anthropomorphic mammals.
The first film was a huge success in China, scoring 9.3/10 on Douban, prompting excited animal lovers to watch its sequel, where they pursue the reptile Gary De Snake across Zootopia as they try to clear their names after being framed.
