China: 56% of German firms in China aim to expand locally: survey
Storyline: 56% of German firms in China aim to expand locally: survey [Voice_over] German companies are intensifying strategic partnerships to expand in China. A recent survey by the German Chamber of Commerce in China reveals that 56 percent of German firms in the country plan deeper collaboration with local partners to leverage expertise and accelerate growth. Chinese partners are seen as a strategic cornerstone, essential for scaling operations and adapting to "China speed." However, nearly half of the companies report difficulty in finding suitable partners. Bilateral relations are also crucial, with 75% of firms stating that China-EU and China-Germany ties directly impact their business. The survey, conducted from September 1 to October 6, polled 627 member companies. Automotive investment leads German engagement, making up two-thirds of total investment. China is now a vital market for Germany’s top automakers — BMW, Mercedes-Benz, and Volkswagen. [Sound_bite] Oliver Oehms, Executive Director and Board Member, German Chamber of Commerce in North China: "Our members tell us that in a significant number of cases, their Chinese peers, competitors are about to become innovation leaders in their specific technology or they are already innovation leaders, global innovation leaders and this obviously requires German companies to be part of the, let's say, success story or the journey of these industries. We have been hearing and seeing the famous China speed triggering a very quick technological development. If you want to be part of this as an entrepreneur or company representative, you need to be in China and also commit to the Chinese market." [Restrictions: No access Chinese mainland]
