US, Los Angeles: Ventura High Surf
Los Angeles, United States - December 04, 2025 12/04/2025 02:00 am GMT-0800 VENTURA, Calif. – A high surf advisory remains in effect for Ventura County Beaches until noon PST Thursday. The National Weather Service in Los Angeles/Oxnard issued the advisory on Wednesday afternoon. Large breaking waves of 4 to 7 feet are expected, along with dangerous rip currents. Tidal overflow may flood some normally dry beach areas. The advisory warns of increased risks related to ocean drowning, as rip currents can pull swimmers and surfers out to sea. Large waves can cause injuries, wash beachgoers off shore and rocks, and capsize small boats near the shoreline. Pooling of seawater around high tide is likely in beach and harbor areas, which is uncommon with normal tidal ranges. Enhanced beach erosion may also occur, but no significant damage is anticipated. High tides of 7.2 to 7.8 feet mean lower low water will happen between 6 and 10 a.m. each morning. Minor coastal flooding is predicted to continue through Saturday due to these unusually high tides. Following the expiration of this advisory, a beach hazard statement may be issued. Officials advise residents to take necessary actions to protect flood-prone property and to refrain from driving around barricades or through water of undetermined depth. People are also urged to stay out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions and remain near lifeguard towers. It is advised to avoid rock jetties under these conditions, as they can be particularly hazardous.
