The Zayed National Museum opened to the public in Abu Dhabi of the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Wednesday, bringing a refreshing dynamic presentation of the gulf nation's history, culture and vitality. The museum, which celebrates the legacy of the UAE's founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, offers world-class exhibitions with a series of interactive zones and innovative presentations. Visitors may see the history of maritime trade through vivid reenactments by a troupe of performers, or hear the unique sounds made by old ships and even smell the distinctive scents of saffron, cinnamon, and turmeric, which connects the region's past with the present, through these dynamic exhibitions. "I feel so surprised about that idea. They show this thing, and then when we smell it, we really smell it. And I had so (much) fun exploring this museum and I liked it," said a young local tourist. With grand audio and visual presentations, the museum also showcases the natural beauty of the UAE, from the windy desert terrain to the tranquility of the valleys and the pulse of the seas which surround the nation. "More than a cultural institution, it is a living expression of the country's identity. Bringing the UAE's story to life with clarity, pride and purpose. These living traditions continue to unite us, preserving the memory of our past and inspiring future generations," said Mohamed Khalifa Al Mubarak, chairman of Abu Dhabi's Department of Culture and Tourism.
