China: Chinese electric two-wheelers charge into global market

Exports of electric motorcycles and bicycles from Wuxi have skyrocketed this year, posting a more than 30 percent annual increase in the first three quarters. At the Wuxi(Xishan) Electric Vehicle Industrial Park, international shoppers are drawn to a value proposition that's hard to beat: competitive pricing that doesn't compromise on quality or innovation. I think they'll be very popular." [Voiceover] Behind the global appeal lies a deep bench of intellectual property. The deputy director of a tech research center shows off a formidable collection of over 2,400 patents registered by its organization. [Soundbite] Li Shuai, deputy director, technology research and development center, TAILG Group: "We have dozens of core components, all of which utilize our patented inventions. We have also invested in some cutting-edge technologies and prepared core patents in advance." [Voiceover] Backed by core technologies, Wuxi manufacturers are consistently launching high-tech, practical products tailored to global demand.
