QALQILYA, WEST BANK, PALESTINE - DECEMBER 4: Israeli forces imposed a tight siege on the Kafr Saba neighborhood in Qalqilya on Thursday, Dec. 4, restricting movement and raiding homes as part of a wider military escalation in the northern West Bank.
According to the Palestinian WAFA News Agency, a 12-year-old Palestinian boy was critically wounded by Israeli gunfire in the city, according to the Palestinian Red Crescent Society (PRCS).
The child, who sustained a head injury near a checkpoint, was taken to a hospital for urgent treatment.
Witnesses told Anadolu Agency that troops stormed Qalqilya, enforced a curfew in Kafr Saba, and conducted house searches and field interrogations. The operations included the use of live ammunition and rubber-coated bullets.
The incursion coincides with ongoing Israeli army activities in other northern West Bank towns. Forces withdrew from Misilya, south of Jenin, on Thursday morning after hours of raids, while operations continued in Qabatiya for a third day.
The surge in military activity follows the launch last week of an Israeli campaign dubbed "Five Stones," which has brought curfews, arrests, and raids to several areas. The West Bank has seen increased violence since the start of the war in Gaza two years ago.
