Jiujiang, China - November 17, 2025 A man in Jiujiang, Jiangxi, unexpectedly caught a large white fish while fishing, with physical features strikingly similar to the Chinese paddlefish — a species declared extinct. The fish measured over one meter long, weighed around 30–40 jin (approximately 15–20 kg), had a pink tail, and a long, narrow snout. Startled by the catch, the man and his brother immediately released it back into the water. They then called the local police three times to confirm the proper procedure and were advised that releasing the fish immediately was the correct action to avoid further harm. The video sparked heated discussion online, with many viewers expressing concern over endangered species protection and others amused by the fisherman’s panicked yet responsible reaction.
