Buy video

Heavy rainfall from midday until late afternoon caused a river in Malalak District, Agam Regency, to overflow on Tuesday, trapping dozens of residents and medical volunteer teams who were unable to cross due to the strong current.

The overflowing river left people stranded for nearly two hours as they waited for heavy machinery to arrive and clear landslide material not far from the riverbank. Emergency teams rushed to the scene to provide assistance, fearing a potential secondary landslide that could put more lives at risk.

Fortunately, all residents and medical volunteers were successfully evacuated without injury. However, heavy rain continues to pour over the Malalak area, raising concerns among local residents about the possibility of another landslide.
