Locals hauled a half-tonne marlin blue marlin ashore in the Philippines.

Footage captured by Allan Rubang Visitacion shows a group of fishermen dragging the 79st (500kg) leviathan in Pasuquin, Ilocos Norte.

The anglers can be seen struggling to remove the 15ft (4.6m) 'Grander' fish from the wooden boat on December 6.

They eventually managed to push the enormous creature into the water and hauled it to dry land with ropes.

Allan said that the fish was sold for 80,000 PHP (approximately 1,010 GBP).

The blue marlin is one of the most iconic, largest, and fastest fish in the ocean. It is a highly sought-after game fish and is recognised for its immense size.

They can be found in the tropical and subtropical waters of the Atlantic Ocean and the Indo-Pacific Ocean, typically living near the surface in deep water.
