This is the amusing moment a curious cat climbed a Christmas tree and began playing with shiny baubles.

Footage captured by Leizl Bernales shows Jinju, the orange feline, pawing at gold and silver ornaments hanging from the synthetic tree inside their living room in Davao del Sur, the Philippines.

Moments later, the playful kitten put his weight on the lower branches, causing a bauble to catapult into the air on December 10.

He then chased the bouncing decoration across the floor and continued playing with it.

Meanwhile, Midnight, his black cat brother, casually walked past him, seemingly uninterested in his antics.

In another clip, Jinju can be seen climbing to the top of the tree, clutching his claws onto the structure for balance.

Leizl said: 'We were setting up our Christmas tree with my kids when our new kitten joined in. Maybe he thought the tree was a scratching post just for him. While we were decorating, he kept climbing the tree again and again. When we started hanging the Christmas balls, he got so excited, he probably thought we were adding toy balls for him.'
