This is the dramatic moment an army helicopter crashed while making an emergency landing, leaving four Thai soldiers injured.

The aircraft reportedly lost control as it was touching down at the Surin Bhakdi Airport military base in Surin province on Monday evening.

Footage shows the helicopter struggling to gain altitude before spinning uncontrollably in the air.

The Bell 212 tilted to one side, causing the propeller blades to scrape against the ground before crashing.

A small fire erupted in the helicopter's engine which was immediately extinguished, officials said.

Thailand's Second Army Area said four crew members were injured and rushed to Fort Weerawatyothin Hospital, adding their condition was stable.

It said in a statement: 'The 2nd Army Area would like to clarify that on December 22, 2025, at approximately 5:19 pm, an Army helicopter H.T. 212 had an emergency landing while performing a landing operation at Surin Bhakdi Airfield.

'The aircraft crash in Surin province resulted in injuries to several crew members. Authorities immediately controlled the situation and provided assistance to the victims, ensuring no public safety in the area was affected.'

The injured officers were identified as the pilot, Major Suchat Nakcharoen, who injured his right foot but suffered no fracture, and co-pilot Lieutenant Arin Ananyutthasakul who suffered minor injuries.

Flight engineers Sergeant Major First Class Kittipong Chimthai and Sergeant Major Third Class Ekarin Chitrit injured their right ankles, with Kittipong undergoing further checks for a possible fracture.

The Second Army Area added: 'The cause of the accident is currently under investigation by a relevant committee, in accordance with Army regulations and procedures, to ensure accurate, complete, and fair investigation from all angles. The 2nd Army Area prioritizes the safety of its personnel. And we will report further progress.'

The incident occurred in border province Surin, torn by the ongoing border conflict.

Territorial conflict flared up earlier this year before a brief ceasefire, but started again this month when Cambodian troops are said to have fired on a Thai engineering team building an access road in a disputed border area.

In the most recent battles, at least 22 Thai soldiers and one civilian have been killed.

In Cambodia, the number of military fatalities is believed to be much higher, though regime chiefs have not revealed the actual figure.

Around 600,000 people have been displaced on both sides of the border.

Cambodia's assault has largely been wayward, unguided rockets fired indiscriminately into Thai territory, including an attack on July 24 that killed eight people and injured 13 others. Thailand has used precision drone strikes and fighter jet strikes on military sites.

Former Khmer Rouge henchman and Cambodian dictator Hun Sen has repeatedly claimed that he wants peace and that Thailand is the aggressor.

Thai officials claim the ongoing border confrontations are a threat to national security, and the areas must be secured.
