The United States began to implement a 25 percent tariff on these products in October 2025, with plans to further escalate the tariff rate on Jan 1, 2026. The postponement came at a time when the country was grappling with the rising prices across various sectors. Imposing additional tariffs on those products would put new pressure on American consumers, homebuyers, and builders -- groups in sectors of the economy that the government seeks to boost, said insiders. Currently, the date for imposing additional tariffs on those products has been postponed to January 1, 2027.
