High-rise buildings sway during strong earthquake in Mexico
On January 2, 2026, in Mexico, @javier20250808 shared a video capturing intense movement of high-rise buildings during a Mw 6.5 earthquake. Filmed from the seventh floor of a nearby building, the footage shows visible swaying and structural flexing, even though no audible earthquake alarm was triggered. The quake, which struck at 07:58 local time with its epicenter near San Marcos, Guerrero, caused fatalities and injuries from landslides in Guerrero, while Mexico City largely avoided major damage.
