A shocking video has emerged from China of a car crashing into a shop and hitting a man inside.

The CCTV footage, filmed in Dalian, Liaoning Province on Monday, shows the car plowing into the shop at high speed, knocking shopkeeper Xiao Jia to the floor.

According to local reports, the driver of the car was allegedly trying to pick up a bottle of water which fell her seat when the crash occured.

When she realised she was about to crash, she reportedly pressed the accelerator instead of the brake by mistake.

A woman carrying her three-year-old child was reportedly scraped by the car as it mounted the curb, before hitting the shop.

Police are now investigating the incident.
