An armed robber was left stuck inside a gold shop in the Swedish capital on Monday after a quick-thinking civilian successfully managed to block him inside.

The criminal was prevented from making an escape from the Guldfynd store in Stockholm after he had threatened the staff with a weapon.

The staff managed to run out of the store and the door was barricaded, impeding the man's getaway.

This short video shows the man as he is left stuck in the shop, and his helplessness as police arrive to apprehend him.

A statement on the Swedish police website read:
"A lone masked perpetrator has threatened staff at the store with a weapon. Police patrols who arrived at the scene arrested the perpetrator of the crime scene. No injuries were reported in connection with the robbery."
