An emotional video has emerged from the US of a man proposing to his girlfriend during the baby shower for their first child.

The video, shot on August 28 in Birmingham, Alabama, shows Keevis talking the audience through the moment when he first saw Makaila. As he continues, the sweet story turns into a surprise proposal.

''I had no clue he was going to propose to me during the baby shower. He's horrible at keeping secrets and I'm so surprised that I didn't pick up on this,'' Makaila later wrote online.

The video was filmed at our baby shower in Birmingham, AL. Keevis and I are both from Alabama and met during college. I attended the University of Alabama and he attended Stillman College, both in Tuscaloosa, AL. We met through mutual friends (after he saw my profile on Instagram) in April 2012. We officially started dating in August 2012 and have been inseparable since.

I had no clue he was going to propose to me during the baby shower. He's horrible at keeping secrets and I'm so surprised that I didn't pick up on this. We are expecting our first child, Parker Alivia, on November 10th and we couldn't be more excited to meet her.

We are the best of friends and even greater lovers! I couldn't be more blessed to have Keevis as my soulmate.
