A heartwarming video has emerged from Canada of a youngster's reaction to seeing colour for the first time after his parents got him EnChroma glasses.

The footage, shot in Old Toronto on Monday, shows six-year-old Josiah discovering colours with the help of the special glasses.

''We suspected something was wrong when he could never tell us proper colours. He confused and mixed up his colours all the time,'' his mum later wrote online.

''I was very skeptical about the glasses but I have great colour vision and I notice a difference in the spectrum using them.''

''We are hoping this helps his day to day activities and maybe be able to get sports glasses someday. He hasn't taken them off since,'' she continued.

It is a recessive gene that has been passed on from his mothers grandfather. His uncle also has the disorder. We are hoping this helps his day to day activities and maybe be able to get sports glasses someday. EnChroma glasses are expensive, but seem to be worth it. He hasn't taken them off since. His only complaint is that his ears are hurting because he is wearing them so much and has no previous experience wearing glasses.
