Bear Rips Camera off Tree 07052015
Black Bear in a cinnamon color phase gets a drink from a small pond near Council, Idaho then returns a few minutes later to drink more water before she wanders up to the camera and rips it off the tree that it is strapped to, breaking only one small part on the outside of the camera that the strap slides through. My guess is this is a sow with cubs. I think that because a few times while she is drinking, something that does not alarm her bumps the camera or the tree it is on. Plus, going to check on her cubs might be what she was doing between drinks. Also, this bear has a long nose and narrow head, so it's a sow. I still use this camera, but moved it to the opposite side of the water hole. This might be the same bear that sniffs the camera in its new location just a few days later, but in that instance she and her cubs skedaddle out of there. If you have sound, you can listen to the camera being moved around.
