Seen for the first time in almost 700 years, this is what scientists say is the face of Robert the Bruce. Virtual images of Scotland's legendary king have been created from the cast of what is said to be his skull. They show him in his warrior prime and how he may have looked as he suffered from leprosy. Robert the Bruce reigned over Scotland from 1306 until his death in 1329 aged 55 and is famous for defeating the English at Bannockburn in 1314. He also led campaigns in northern England and Ireland in an effort to strengthen his kingdom. The new images have been created by craniofacial experts from the University of Glasgow and Liverpool John Moores University.
