Pilot in sensational form as he addresses passengers about Iceland's volcanic eruption
This video was taken on our return from Tenerife after the Icelandic volcano, Eyjafjallajökull, erupted and closed the skies of much of Northern Europe. Easyjet, the airline we travelled to and from Tenerife, paid for all its passengers' enforced extra week away.
One YouTube user commented: "This man is an aviation legend - Captain Phil Shaw, ex Commander RN, taught Prince Andrew to fly helicopters, current air display pilot, commanded Canberra Squadrons, the list goes on and on. Fly with him and you KNOW that you're safe. I've huge respect for the man and his achievements."
