According to NASA eclipse expert, Fred Espenak, in the early hours of Tuesday 15th April the good people of planet earth will likely be treated to the extraordinary spectacle of a blood red moon - also known as a total eclipse of the moon (http://science.nasa.gov/science-news/science-at-nasa/2014/27mar_tetrad/). This event is part of a ‘tetrad’ - a series of 4 lunar eclipses which will happen on 15th April 2014, 8th October 2014, 4th April 2015 and 28th September 2015. Espenak says the most unique thing about the 2014-2015 tetrad “is that all of them are visible for all or parts of the USA". The action is expected to begin for the USA when the full moon passes through the amber shadow of the Earth, producing an eclipse at 2:00am Eastern Time with totality expected at around 3:00am Eastern Time and, weather permitting, people across the entirety of North America should be treated to a spectacular view.
