An amazing video has emerged from London of a man in a gorilla costume crawling across the London Marathon finish line almost a week after the race began.

Metropolitan Police Officer Tom Harrison, who goes by the name of Mr Gorilla, crawled the entire 26.2-mile route.

He was greeted at the finish by members of his family and handed a trophy by celebrity environmentalist Bill Oddie.

The 41-year-old Londoner slept at friends' houses in the evenings after completing around 10 to 12 hours every day.

He swapped between crawling on hands and knees and up on hands and feet to save his blistered knees.

Harrison was raising money for The Gorilla Organisation, which campaigns to save the world's last remaining gorillas from extinction.

All species (and sub-species) of gorilla are listed as Critically Endangered on the IUCN Red List.
