A hilarious video has emerged of a man being rescued from a river in Queensland, Australia while attempting to "hunt crocodiles".

A park ranger spotted the stranded man while he was up to his neck in the McLeod river.

After establishing that the man was in trouble, the ranger used a long rope to pull him from the water.

Safely on the river bank, the man revealed that he had been attempting to hunt crocodiles because "there's nothing else to do, mate."

Describing his crocodile hunting techniques, the man said he pokes them in the eyeballs, before cooking the crocodile meat on a barbecue.
