Britain's largest piece of art "unrecognisable" after act of civic vandalism

It is one of Britain's largest pieces of public art, cost £2.6m, and celebrates the contribution to comedy by more than 1,000 writers and performers. But after just one nights RAVE, the laughter has stopped for Blackpool's 'comedy carpet'.

"The comedy carpet is world class piece of public art," A tourist added. "The Rave organisers have treated it shamefully. Their actions have made me feel physically sick. I still can't quite believe what they have done."
