A furious bus driver orders two female French backpackers off the coach - after they complained about their seats.

The two women had boarded an overnight sleeper bus from Hanoi to Saigon in Vietnam when it stopped part-way through the trip on Tuesday.

Passengers swapped vehicles but the French girls began arguing about their seats, taking positions on the lower deck instead of those they had booked - telling the driver they were uncomfortable on the second floor.

They tell the driver, named as Dang Thanh Binh, 30, to ‘’stop shouting’’ as he angrily points to order them out of the seats.

But their objections were dismissed by the driver who flew into a rage when they opened a pack of cigarettes and one of them allegedly spat at him.

Footage from onlookers shows the driver throwing the French girls' bags off the bus and having an angry exchange with an Irishman who intervened and threatened to ‘’bite off his nose’’.

Onlooker Danny Humphries, was was sat behind the women, said: ‘’It was two awkward grumpy French girls grumbling about their seats.

''I can’t remember the exact dispute, but they wanted to move and it was causing a commotion when the driver came over.''

Danny said one of the girl took out her cigarettes and the driver thought she wanted to smoke on the bus.

He added: ‘’He told her no smoking in the bus. She said ‘yes I know’ and he thought she wanted to smoke on the bus… it was a misunderstanding.

‘’I was three rows behind and stood up to watch the French girls argue about their seats.’'

Another passenger, who filmed the scenes, said: ‘’The girls just wanted side seats because they felt uncomfortable on the last bus. And they tried their best to explain.

‘’But the staff of the bus company threatened them and anyone who doesn’t want to obey his orders. He threw the girl’s bag out the door twice.

‘’He asked them to take off the bus, even grabbed the girl.’'

The boss, Le Thi My Thao, of the bus company said the driver had been suspended while they investigate.

She said the women had booked a tour from the north to the south of the country but when they swapped buses in Khanh Hoa province they took the wrong positions.

Le Thi My Thao said: ''We have temporarily suspended the staff involved. In addition, we also expect an apology and forgiveness for the actions of employees because it is not good for the company.’'

The driver, Dang Thanh Binh, said that while he was trying to solve the seating problem one of the girls ‘’suddenly spat in his face’’ so he could not keep calm.

He said there were ‘’30 passengers waiting for the coach to move’’ and that there was ‘’strong sun and heat outside’’.

Nguyen Thi Le Thanh, Deputy Director of the Department of Tourism in Khanh Hoa province, said they have asked the Department of Transport to investigate and resolve the incident.

She said: ‘'We will work with branch of the company and those concerned to ascertain the facts. If they have any violations, we will take appropriate action.''
