Stranded baby owl found by hikers

A great video has emerged of a stranded baby owl being rescued by hikers in British Columbia, Canada.

The group were walking a trail in Campbell River on Thursday when they spotted the Barred Owlet sitting on a low branch near the path without its mother.

The footage was captured by a wildlife expert from the Mountainaire Avian Rescue Society who was called out by the hikers to check the fledgling bird.

Finding no injuries and the parent nearby, the rescuer was able to find a suitable spot high up in a tree deeper into the woods to place the owlet out of harms way.

“Momma owl was there watching the whole thing and no doubt went to her baby after everyone left. A happy ending” the rescuer later wrote online.
